The First Step - The choice is yours
To Challenge the kids that they need to take that first step to follow Jesus.
Luke 9:18-27
Here we have a time in History where Jesus has been with His disciples for a while. They have watched him do miracles, they had listened to His teaching and hung around with him for a significant period of time. The time is coming near for Jesus' time on earth to be finished.
His time was short and he must have been wondering if anyone really knew who He was. When he asked the question, he got varied responses. By them saying, some believed him to be John the Baptist or Elijah, they were saying that they thought he was the "great of the greatest" prophets. It was a high compliment indeed. But when Peter said "I believe you are Christ, the Son of the living God". Jesus knew that at least one person understood who He was. The word "Christ" and the word "Messiah" are the same word. One is the Greek word and the other word is the Hebrew word for "Anointed One". It certainly was not a humanly description.
For Peter this was a personal verdict, coming from within him. Jesus challenges us to not simply know about Him, but to know him personally. It is here where the faith step comes in , the choice to follow even when human reason cannot describe how you feel. Jesus begins to talk for the first time about his suffering that is ahead, and challenges His disciples that they will need to take up their cross daily. He talked to them about the fact that by following Jesus, there will be hard times and difficult choices ahead.

Ethan does not turn up to the studio again and Mindy Lee is getting frustrated. If we say we are going to do something, we actually have to choose to do it. They cross live to him where he shows off and is so engrossed in himself that he has no time to talk to Mindy Lee.

(These cards have been placed on memory cards that you can make up for the kids and give them out at the end of the day. You will find the masters on the website. You can colour copy as many as you need. You could even make them into magnets or something they can hang in their room to try to remember to live an edgy life.)
Fulfilling the Plans
Last week you spent time planning a time together which you told the children they could not do. To get the desired effect of planning something not doing it and all the feelings of frustration that comes with that. This week take some time out to do those things together as a way to fulfil what was first planned. This will be a good time of fellowship together and a good example of doing what you plan to do. Explain to them why we are following through with the plans that were made last week.
