Bible Text

Luke 10:: 38-42

Biblical Background

... books contains a paragraph to put it in perspective ...

Teaching Time

Involvement Drama - Invited to Dinner
Set up a table and 2 chairs an a really nice table setting as if you are having someone for dinner. Have a number of courses of things that children would like!

E.g. Course 1: Coke
Course 2: Chips
Course 3: Pizza

Talk to the children about how you OR another leader have prepared this meal and you were really looking forward to sharing it with someone. A meal time is a great time to get to know someone and you thought this would be great if you had dinner with someone, get to spend time with themand to get to know them. Pick someone and have them sit down. (If there's someone new to the group, it would be a good way to get to know them)

Movie Making (You will find the script in section 4 - Photocopy as many as you need)

Movie summary for the day - The Firey Bush

Moses was in the desert of Midian for a long time. There he learned a lot about his new culture, the land and the desert. He would have a lot of time to ponder about his sense of destiny and what this was all for.

Why was he saved from death as a baby? Why was he trained in all wisdom of the Egyptians? Did he carry a sense of destiny about his Hebrew Heritage. What did God want from him? He had every reason to feel sorry for himself, to feel that God could never love him and to feel like he had messed up.

The wilderness provided time with God and preparation for his public ministry. When God appeared to Him. although nervous and lacking confidence, he took up the challenge.

It is important to take the time out to hear GOd and know when he speaks to you. No matter what Moses have done in the past, God was willing to use all Moses' strengths and weaknesses to fulfill His purpose.

That's the beauty of belonging to God, He uses you, no matter what you think about yourself. Mostly He wants us to spend time with Him and look to Him for guidance. To hear His voice and recognize Him when He speaks to us.
