Here are a few pages of samples of the discovery learning material provided for one of the weeks of the Actual Reality program.
To teach that we need to be willing to make the effort to communicate to each other in ways that others will undertand.
Acts 8:26-40
... books contains a paragraph to put it in perspective ...
The kids play round one in the ultimate challenge. Little do they realise that the very people they are playing with live next door. But how is it possible that people live so close together yet so far apart? They soon realise in the world of virtual reality there are no rules and you play to win.
"Philip and the Foreigner"
See Appendix A for the worsksheets for this teaching time. In the same small groups, they must try to break the language barriers on the worksheets to be able to work out the story and then be able to tell it back to the whole group in their own words in any way they want to. You can give children prizes for the most creative way of communicating the story.

(Breaking the Language Barries)
Break the children into 3 smaller groups. Each group is to be given a different language and they have to try to communicate with the other groups. Each group will have different key words and hopefullywill not be able to understand each other. Their task is to find a way to get their message across, and get what they need to complete their task despite the language barrier. Give each group a piece of paper with their own instructions and give them 5 minutes to work out their language and their method of attack to their task done. The first group to get their information wins.

1. What would happen if Phillip wasn't communicating with God?
2. What would happen if the Ethiopian wasn't willing to ask questions?
3. What would happen if Phillip wasn't able to make the Bible make sense to the Ethiopian?
Communicating is something we need to practice as much as we can so we can make sense to those around us. When you were in your small groups did you find there was a way of communicating that helped? Acting things out and movement is often universal. It can often break through many barriers. That is why it is important to use many different ways of communicating to others.
