 Attention Grabber

(Have the detective walk in with his magnifying glass.)
Detective: I'm hot on the case now.
Leader: That's what you've been saying for weeks now.
Detective: No I was www (attempts to say wrong)
Leader: You were what?
Detective: Wrong. (Finally spits it out)
Leader: Well I'm glad you've come to your senses
Detective: I'm step ahead of you now
Leader: Oh really
Detective: You know how I told you that it was all about zoo, well now I realise I was wrong.
Leader: Great, so you're going to work with us.
Detective: Not on your life. I'm a professional
Leader: But you were wrong.
Detective: But now I'm right. It's not all about a zoo at all, its about a farm.
Leader: What led you to this conclusion
Detective: Well everyone knows that cows are not at the zoo, they're on a farm. (exits very proud of himself)
Leader: (left standing in amazement.) And this guy is a professional! Actually, he's not completely wrong.

Teaching Time

(Jesus Birth)

The aim is to put the children in a situation where they experience being uncomfortable and frustrated.(eg. Mary being uncomfortable,..etc..) To simulate the hassle's that they had, handicap the children by either tying their arms or legs together. Have the clues written and hidden which the group must collect together in order to be released. The clues give an outline of the story of Jesus birth and will be later used as a basis for the storyboard to give an account of Jesus Birth.

Clue - I am found in something that is shaped like a circle - Pregnant
Clue - I am found in very precious place - Saviour

Once the clues are foundthe children can be released.
Ask the children the following questions:

1. How did it feel to be tied together, having to get around quickly?
2. What were some of the frustration's you experienced?

QUESTIONS:

How did Jesus enter the world?
If you were going to "save the world" how would you come?
Why did Jesus come as a human?
Why did Jesus have to come into our world?
How does that make you feel?

Hide the next piece in an appropriate spot such as a nursery and send the kids out to find it. When they return put into place and settle the children down for the detective's entry.
